Understanding "The Hobbit" Movie

Many people, who have read the book, have come to love the great fantasy story The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien. I am sure many people who read the book, and many people who have not, have see the animated, and less satisfying, film adaptation. I am also sure many of us now know of the new live action film adaptation by director Peter Jackson (director of The Lord of the Rings).

This new film adaption of the beloved novel will be split into two parts, the first to come out December of next year. The book itself could be made into a single film but those creating it have decided to do something extra, a bridge between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. In the Appendix of The Return of the King, Tolkien provided a lot of history that allowed the books to be connected with one another. The film makers will be adapting these into the film.

I personally think that this is great idea for the movie, but my fear is that many people who have read The Hobbit, but don't know all of history Tolkien created, might think that they are making up new material. Due to this, critics may give the film bad reviews and it will poor in theaters, not receiving the credit it deserves. More than likely, however, my fear is in vain and the film makers will explain what they are doing. I hope that this post though does help people gain a better understanding of what the filmmakers are doing doing.

Well as my first post I think I will start off with my top 10 best movies. Hate or not, this is what I think.

6. Spartacus (with Kirk Duglas)

3. Letters from Iwo Jima
2. The Lord of the Rings (Includes all three movies)
1. The Longest Day

After doing this, I realize that I should do a top 100, but that will have to come later.

I would like to welcome all who have ventured here to my site. I hope you enjoy reading what random bits of my opinions that have shot out of my head and on to the internet.

A note on the title of this blog, this will not just be about politics. This blog will include my opinions on politics, as well as everything from movies to some of the weirdest things you can think. Also everything on here is my opinion, so try not to get offended.

As warning to those who read this, I have no update schedule. This is entirely based on what pops into my head at any random time. So don't get angry at me if I don't throw something up for a week or so.
